About Us
For many years Standish Steel, Inc. has built the machines their
customers use to build and/or produce their products. Standish Steel,
Inc. designed and built machines for the die cast industry, transit and
school bus industries, elevator industry, and steel fabricators, just to
mention a few.
Standish Steel, Inc. entered into the stone machinery business in 1985
in conjunction with W.F. Meyers Co. (a provider of diamond saw blades
for the stone industry for nearly 100 years). The first machine designed
and built by Standish Steel, Inc. was the Diamond Belt Quarry Saw which
immediately changed the limestone industry’s quarrying operations.
Throughout the industry the tremendous success of these machines spawned
the design and building of the Narrow Belt Block Slab Saws. These saws
allowed the mills to keep up with the greatly increased quarry
production. Next came the Double Bar Quarry Saw, Block/Slab Turning
Machines, Turntables, Diamond Circular Saws, Multi-blade Circular Saws,
Stone Tumblers, and Stone Block Stands, and the list goes on.
In 2008 an 80’ x 180’ Research and Development Building was completed
for the development and testing of new stone working machines. The
building was immediately put into use testing and upgrading the narrow
belt slab saws, in which two Standish Narrow Belt Saws slabbed all of
the stone required for the new Yankee Stadium in New York City, and then
was shipped to a stone fabrication shop for final finish.
Customers are invited to visit our plant and R & D building to observe
the machines while in operation they may be considering purchasing.
